What have you been up to?

The other day when I took the boys to get hair cuts, the stylist asked what we have been up to.

That seems to be a question we have been asked a lot lately. It's not like we have dropped off the earth or anything, but mostly we have been doing lots of summer stuff. Stuff most people wouldn't find terribly interesting.

Our A.C. has been working intermittently, so it has been lots of pool time and library trips. We had a picnic at the park one day and on another day went to visit friends we haven't seen in a while. Kal had a birthday and fortunately for us, the A.C. worked long enough for us to make a birthday cake.

On the crafting front, I got some new needles to work on my barn raising afghan. I've started a quilt with mermaids on it (pictures soon) and have been knitting pot scrubbies for the church festival - I can honestly say that I am tired of those scrubbies...

Not much summer left for me - one more week, then it is back to work. So I'm out to enjoy what is left of it.

A Public Service Announcement

A few months back you may remember a post about my health and how I was better, blah, blah, blah...

Well, here's the PSA. Listen to your bodies folks. As busy people we tend to push our health to the back-burner. We need to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of the others in our lives.

On Monday, I mentioned to my doctor that I was having shortness of breathe and I didn't want to make a huge deal out of it, but was there any testing that could be done to make sure that the blood clots weren't back in my lungs again. He said no and scheduled a CAT scan (when you hear that word to do automatically see the Gary Larson comic of the doctor scanning a person with a stiff orange cat - I always do). The scan found three small clots. My heart is ok, but I am now on medication again.

So the moral of the story is LISTEN TO YOUR BODY when it is telling you something is not right.

On a happier note. Ian had a singing part in the holiday program. He also got to do some break dancing. He was so excited.
Here's one of Simon - wearing a head band that I made for my secret santa.
Do you think I can still give it to her OR should I be a good mom and make another?

Hint, Hint

I: Hey Mom
K: Yes Ian
I: Just so you know...Walgreen's has school supplies priced reasonably.
K: Ok buddy

I guess it is time to start thinking about the new school year. We need to get school supplies (Grandma is going to pick them up), get back into going to bed early, and eating breakfast by 7:00 am. Tomorrow is registration and pictures. I'm not really sure why the school takes pictures before school starts BUT I guess it is a good idea because he will at least have a clean face...

We have been filling in my last week of summer with lots of fun - going to the library and getting stacks of books, visiting friends, going to the park and going to karate class (Ian only, Simon sits with me and gives the running commentary of what is happening). I have exercised everyday this week and am hoping to keep it going next week before school.

Creatively...hmmm....I've finished a baby quilt complete (I promised myself that I had to finish my Ch. 4 before I could deliver it - that's tomorrow's job). Worked on an anniversary present and my pinwheel afghan. I'm getting sick of it, but I am not going to start a new knitting project until this one is done!
